Divorce
Michigan is a no-fault divorce state. To get a divorce, you don't have to show
that your spouse did anything wrong. Legally, the Judge only has to determine
that:
There has been a breakdown of the marital relationship to the extent that the
objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there is no reasonable likelihood
of reconciliation.
Simply put, you only have to convince the Judge that the marriage is basically
already over. Fault can affect other issues, such a custody, parenting time and
alimony.
There are some residency requirements, too. You have to have been a Michigan
resident for the 6 months before you begin the divorce action and a resident
in the county where you file for 10 days prior.
We handle all types of
divorce, custody, child support and other family law matters in Southeast
Michigan. No matter how large or small your case is, we represent you aggressively.
Some attorneys will charge you far more than you could ever hope to recover
from a long court battle. That just doesn't make sense. Most clients need
a fair and cost-effective resolution of their cases. We can achieve results
that are worth your time and money.
